We were inspired by Dales Broiler videos and we decided to do a video journal of our garden. We thought it would be fun to share our success and failures with all of you throughout the year. We live on a .11 acre lot but I think a lot of you will be surprised at how much food we get out of our little garden. This year we will attempt to grow the following plants:
Leafy Vegetables
Spinach, Arugula, Forellenschuss Lettuce, Green Oakleaf Lettuce, Sunset Lettuce
Root Vegetables
Golden Beets, St. Valery Carrots, Russet Potatoes
Squash
Waltham Butternut Squash, Black Beauty Zucchini, Anna Swartz Hubbard Squash, Summer Crookneck Squash
Tomatoes
Beam's Yellow Pear, Gold Meadow Tomato, Cherokee Purple Tomato, Mexico Midgets, Red Brandywine, Sudduths Brandywine
Other Vegetables
Orange Bell Peppers, Double Yield Cucumber, Sweet Peas
Fruits
Strawberries, Blackberries, Golden Raspberries, Charantais Melon

I love the video.
In 1982, the last year I farmed with your father, I grew enough potatoes that if you put them end to end they would go from Shelley, ID to St Louis, MO. I got my fill and will never grow another potato.
Last fall I planted a fall crop of lettuce and it lived through the winter! Now I have lots of babies and I should be having a salad next week. Lots of seeds germinated when they were ready this spring also. Lettuce is so fun! If only I can get the tomatoes to work this year... :) Thanks for the garden tour, can't wait to see how it goes for you!
Lindsay- all of our left over lettuce made it through the winter, too! So great to have fresh lettuce on hand already.
Thank you for the video. It really is amazing how much produce can grow in our small size yards. We added an 8' A-frame to our garden last year to give us vertical space for the sugar pumpkins. Worked well- had around 20 sugar pumpkins from it without the vines taking up valuable garden space.
Lindsay, that's awesome that you already have lettuce. I'll have to try planting winter lettuce. Do you know what climate zone you are in?

We grew our pumpkins, melons , and squash on some tripods last year. It is a great way to use your sapce better.
I am in zone 5 (just by a hair's width though, it's borderline 4). I know much of Utah has terrible soil but I think we take the cake here. There is something about the weather too I guess since the rumor is that the extension service says we can only expect apples or peaches once every 5-7 years! So,that is why I am pretty excited about my lettuce. :)
Everything looks so neat and tidy. My backyard garden looks like a tornado carrying hundreds of seeds just bombed my backyard LOLOL
