Burger King is testing a new mobile app for android phone users. This app will allow people to add money to an electric account. Then when they go to their beloved local Burger King they don't have to get to their wallets or purses to pay. They simply pay with the app, and even gain points for future purchases.
I admit that I eat fast food at times, but I hope I never eat it enough that I will need an app for convenience. The next thing we will see is fast food credit cards where you can charge your fast food meals and not even have to pay for them. Can you imagine a future where fast food zombies go through a Burger King drive through (so they don't have to walk or talk to a person face to face) order their food and then just flash their phone as they pass the drive through window, grabbing their food from the Burger King robot?
What are some of the signs you all have seen of the coming food apocalypse? Share them in the comments.
~Mike~
That's just downright scary.
ReplyDeleteWhat will they do when the power goes out one day, seems silly but then what do I know, I still use a phone to make calls on.
ReplyDeleteThis already exists at Sbux so it was inevitable that every other convenience food place would be right behind. I am happy to say that we are seven months fast food free. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteHey Mike, it's good to see you guys back blogging again. Albeit a little less frequent but then I do understand how media can suck the time right out of life. I've had to cut back on my media time as well.
ReplyDeleteYeah, fast food seldom is on the menu for me. I must break down on occasion and take my seven year old grandson to Mc Donalds to dine on nuggets and exercise in the play station. The electronic system creeps ever forward to a day when there will be no money in our hands to spend. It will all be done through electronic devices. It will be a sad scary day when we lose control over how we handle money. And we thought Dick Tracy's watch was a real fantasy. The cell phones of today aren't strapped to our wrists but practically everyone has one that is way beyond the fantasy watch that Dick used. What will it be like in another 10 years.
They can't even be bothered to get their wallet out?! That's the ultimate in laziness.
ReplyDeleteMaybe robots will get the orders right. No matter where a person goes anymore the order is always either missing something or not right.
ReplyDeleteHot chips last night, ask for no salt, make gravy at home and herb salt at home, local shop uses rice bran oil in deep fryer, makes a myriad of items from pasta to fish and chips, cakes and pizza, gluten free, not exactly "fast"food, it's about a 20klm round trip that takes 30 mins to undertake including the cooking of the chips, usually i go on my motorbike but went in the 4wd last night as it was ripping down with rain mid winter here, made me feel bad to have to use the 4wd... Looking forward to the day i'm trotting around on bio-fuel from that same chippery shop ;)
ReplyDeleteP.s. That's the 3rd time this year we've gotten fast food, all the same deal... ;) Paid cash ;)
Wow, are you idiots serious. Someone forwarded this to me and I think everyone needs to wake up and get with the times. Its not about a food apocolypse, its about convience. Everything is getting where cash isn't necessary. You are just going to use your phone instead of a credit card. I guess everyone commenting carries around cash and never uses a credit card. Oh yeah and I'm sure everyone still visits their local debters and pays cash for their mortgage, car, utilities, student loans, etc... Find something meaningful to blog about.
ReplyDeleteKind of weird yes. I don't even have a smart phone with an ap so I don't even understand!
ReplyDeletethe fact that you can drive past any fast food restaurant during breakfast lunch or dinner and see the drive-thru lines wrapped around the building is a sure sign of it. When I was a child, McDonald's was a rare treat. We ate homecooked meals every day. Now fast food is the staple of the American diet, and yet people wonder why obesity is such a huge issue especially with our children now. I want to know what I'm putting in my body.
ReplyDeleteY.i.k.e.s.
