So, remember the mysterious boxes we got? You guys all had some great guesses! But, everyone was wrong. It is the cutest chicken coop ever! It took me 15 mins. to assemble, but don't worry the video is only about 2 mins. long. Check it out!
Red Barn Coop is having a holiday sale right now, so you can get a coop for just $399, plus shipping!

Awesome video. Thanks for the demonstration and good luck with breeding your chickens.
Ah.....a girl and her power drill! (or in this case screwdriver)
It is cute, and did go together easily, but.... not to be a downer, but your property looks like the kind they wrote the line 'when the wind comes whistlin' down the plain' about! Do you have rough winters there, and will it's 'lightness' prove sturdy enough? And what about predators? 'Coons could open those hook & eye latches in half a second!
Cute coop, but are those poop trays or nest boxes? Are the nest boxes on the bottom?
I had guessed that it was a chicken coop actually when I was reading the blog but didn't type it in. I remember you saying that you wanted a cute little chicken coop and that you were probably going to purchase one. I actually really like the coop and may look into buying a similar one.
Aren't power tools fun?
I've been (enviously) following your blog for over a year. Tomorrow I finally close on my own "urban" farm in south FL! In preparation I sold my second portable coop b/c the farm has a HUGE coop on the property. Very excited!!!
That is awesome Oahu2Ozona! Good luck on your move!
Hey there! I'm Sheri and my husband is the builder of the "Red Barn Coop". I'll answer a couple of your questions. In our first design, we had "trays" with mesh bottoms. We thought trays would be easier to clean than nesting boxes. BUT the chickens just scratched around and made an absolute mess-I don't think they liked the feel of the wires under their feet! Chickens really need a place to nestle down and cozy up so we replaced the trays with nesting boxes. Next question, hardware...on the website, the coop pictured has hook and eye latches. That's my coop and we've never had any problems with predators trying to get in. But, we understand that all backyards are not as secure as our's, so we replaced the hook and eye hardware with spring-loaded thumb latches. Thanks for your interest in our Red Barn Coop...now, GO GET YOU SOME CHICKENS!
Thanks Sheri B for clearing all that up.
Ah what a cute coop! Such a great blog, I am a follower and adding to my feed too.
